Friendship

Friendship, as understood here, is a distinctively personal relationship that is grounded in a concern on the part of each friend for the welfare of the other, for the other’s sake, and that involves some degree of intimacy. As such, friendship is undoubtedly central to our lives, in part because the special concern we have for our friends must have a place within a broader set of concerns, including moral concerns, and in part because our friends can help shape who we are as persons. Given this centrality, important questions arise concerning the justification of friendship and, in this context, whether it is permissible to “trade up” when someone new comes along, as well as concerning the possibility of reconciling the demands of friendship with the demands of morality in cases in which the two seem to conflict.

Phoebe responded to the information easily and willingly. The research didn’t seem to worry her, this may have been because she was aware it was occurring or simply because it didn’t worry her. Although she know it was occurring she did not change any information and also rarely uses her myspace account. The information contained on her myspace account is also very basic and she does not go into as much personal detail as some users tend to. Overall she was responsive and open to the activity and it appeared it has not made her re-evaluate her privacy when it come to the internet use.

Max seemed willing to respond, though at some points realises how some of the information could be misunderstood and taken a different way from her intended meaning. Through her responses she also justifies some statements to her intended meaning. The drawing is interesting because performing the task in the digital medium solicits a much different response than would other wise be gained, note no use of letters.

With the only information Matt could find about Mim on the internet being her age, sex and hair colour their was not a very strong response to the flash cards. Mim did not seem to mind that this information could easily be found on the interent, however was quite intriged that it was the only information about her on the net.

Mim also noted that she keeps her myspace and facebook accounts private so that her more private information cannot be accessed. She is very aware about the privacy issues with social networking which is one of the key reasons she chooses to keep her accounts private.

As a collective group the squares make up an aesthetic visual – this reflects the observations you made about me which were aesthetically based – that i am blonde and female. If you take a closer look at this aesthetic visual, you see that the squares actually vary in shape, size and tone. David had quite an interesting response to the flashcards, possibly due to large amount of personal information found about him on the net. He took quite a humorous response to the facts which reflects the type of information found. He obviously takes himself as quite a joker, however when it came down to such facts as him failing a 3rd year subject he became quite defensive. In summary I feel that the personality shown on the web is a bit of a front and David is hiding his real personality. Maybe because he doesn’t feel confident enough in his true identity.

David’s drawing draws on the aspect of violation, David obviously felt that the process of investigation has made him feel as If he was being violated. Again David has used humour to try to hide how the process really made him feel.
