Second Probe

Our idea for the book was to use it as a place where the participants could respond to our exhibition by writing their own thoughts. We originally put the book out there so that students could tell us what they thought of the images and quotes that they saw, while still in the frameset of the exhibition.

What was written became much more relevant to our research once we read back over it at the end of the exhibition. Not only had people written feedback to our research but  they had also provided us with another insight into a larger audience than we had first interviewed by expressing new views into their personal ideas of what they thought the meaning of friendship and friend was.

In this way, the book became its own cultural probe into the views, opinions and thoughts of the majority of participants of the exhibition.
